GENERAL CARE - ALL REELS

Your reel is like any other piece of diving safety equipment, it will last longer and function better if you take adequate care to keep it clean and free of salt, sand, dirt deposits. You should thoroughly rinse the reel after every dive and inspect for any damage or deterioration (particularly to the line). On the larger reels, carefully applying a light penetrating oil to places where stainless steel and aluminium touch will help keep electrolytic corrosion (caused by dissimilar metals) to a minimum. Keep your reel out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent UV deterioration of the line and/or casing.
